Below are some pictures of a 2001 crown victoria police interceptor
transmission depicting various components including the:
  - oss (output shaft speed sensor)

  - vss (vehicle speed sensor)

  - mlps (manual lever position sensor)

  - bulkhead connector

  - pressure taps

  - transmission cooler lines

  - shift linkage

  - case vent

And here is the picture of the back of a crown victoria engine with the
transmission removed

Note: The 4.6L/5.4L module bellhousing pictured above differs
significatly from the 3.8L/5.0L bellhousing pattern. The bellhousings
are not interchangeable and a transmission with a 4.6L bellhousing
design will not bolt up to a 5.0L engine or vice versa. You can spot
the modular bellhousing at a quick glance by noting that it has 3
starter bolts instead of the 2 starter bolts.
Also note that 1992 crown victorias manufactured during the first ~6
months of production with the AOD transmission use a 4.6L engine but
the engine is designed to accept a transmission with the 3.8L/5.0L
bellhousing. This engine engine block was also used in the 1991 towncar
up until it the middle of the 1992 production year too.
